Our Process
Planning your estate with the Law Offices of Natalia Kabbe is a seven step process.
Step 1. Schedule Your Initial Conference
Call our office at 888-909-1414 to schedule your Initial Conference.
The fee for the Initial Conference is $250 and can be paid by credit card when you call to schedule the conference. The fee covers the analysis of your personal information and the design of recommendations for your estate plan. If you decide to retain our firm to draft and implement your estate plan, we will credit the Initial Conference fee toward the cost of your plan.
Step 2. Fill Out Personal Information Form
Approximately three days after scheduling the Initial Conference, you will receive our Welcome Packet containing information about our firm, a Personal Information Form, and our fee schedule. You will need to fill out the Personal Information Form and return it to our office at least three days prior to your appointment. If we receive your Personal Information Form less than three days prior to your appointment, we may have to reschedule your Initial Conference.
Step 3. Attend Initial Conference
At the Initial Conference, we will review your documents and personal information. You will also get a chance to teach us about your family, priorities, goals, and dreams – things that are difficult on a form but are very important to designing the right solutions for you.
After we have gotten to know you better, we will educate you about the law and what would happen to your family and assets under your current plan if you become incapacitated or die. Finally, we will answer any questions you have about our firm or the planning process.
Step 4. Design Your Estate Plan
If you decide to hire us and we decide to take you on as a client, we will then design your estate plan. Designing your estate plan is a two step process. First, you must choose which of our Three Levels of Protection will enable you to achieve your goals. Second, we will ask you a number of questions that allow you to customize your plan to get exactly the protection you need.
Based on the level of protection you choose and your answers to the questions, we will give you a firm, flat fee quote for our legal services. We work only on a flat fee basis – so you will know the entire fee up front and will never be surprised by an unexpectedly high hourly-fee bill.
You may choose to combine the Design Conference with the Initial Conference so that your new estate plan will be in place sooner. Fewer visits to our office are also required if the Initial Conference and Design Conference are combined.
Step 5. Signing Ceremony
Once your plan is designed, we will schedule a conference where you will sign the documents for your estate plan. The signing ceremony will take place 3-4 weeks after your plan is designed and should last about two hours.
At the signing ceremony, we will explain all of the documents to you and answer any questions you may have.
Step 6. Estate Plan Portfolio Delivery
About two weeks after the signing ceremony we will meet to deliver your Estate Plan Portfolio. At the meeting, we will review your asset spreadsheet with you and verify that all of your asset transfers are moving forward. You will also have the opportunity to ask us any questions that you might have.
Step 7. "Life and Legacy" Enrollment
We see the delivery of your Estate Plan Portfolio as just the beginning of our relationship. After we deliver your estate plan, we will discuss with you our "Life and Legacy" Programs. You can choose to enroll in either our Basic or Enhanced "Life and Legacy" Program.
If you choose our complimentary Basic program, we will review your estate plan with you every three years. If your choose our Enhanced "Life and Legacy" Program, we will review your estate plan with you every year, to make sure it keeps up with changes in your life and the law.
